Google announced the new Voice Actions service for the Android smartphones today. Along with that the Google dev team released the Chrome to Phone extension, which is quite similar to the iPhone-compatible Firefox Home. The Firefox Home, to refresh your memory, is an app that, once installed on an iPhone, lets you sync your desktop web browser (history, bookmarks and currently open tabs) with the one on your mobile phone.  Read more »

We have some bad news for iPhone/Pod/Pad owners, though it's sort of good news too. Apple has closed the PDF security flaw that allowed hackers to run arbitrary code - one that jailbreaks the phone or one that does something malicious. The PDF viewer flaw allowed for a dead-simple jailbreak - as simple as visiting a site. The Motorola XT806 is bound for China and is one of the few remaining flip phones - but it's no ordinary flip phone. It runs Android , has dual-mode CDMA/GSM support and captures 720p videos with its 5MP camera. A feature that is very important to Chinese customers is the handwriting recognition, which suggests a resistive display. We caught a brief glimpse of the Nokia 5250 back in July and now it's back. New details are scarce but at least we're getting a better look at the phone. The design is freshened up, but the screen seems to be smaller than the one on the 5230. The Nokia 5250 is a Symbian S60 device and that's no surprise - this is one of affordable smartphones from Nokia , maybe even the 100 euro smartphone they've been promising (that is 100 euro without a contract, but before taxes). There seems to be quite a bit of bezel around the screen though - which leads us to suspect that it's a 2.9" unit like the screen on the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic , rather than a 3.2" unit like the one on the Nokia 5230 (which is closer as a model number).  Read more »
