Samsung Q2 2010 financial report is out, growth slows down a bit

Image
After the impressive start of the year Samsung's growth slowed down a tad during the second quarter of the year. Nevertheless, the financial report shows that the company is still doing quite fine and situation is expected to get even better in the second half of the year.
Samsung has just announced its Q2 2010 financial report. The South Korean company sold good 63.8 million handsets which makes 22 percent more units than last year's second quarter and less than a 1 percent decrease when compared to Q1 2010.
In total Samsung earned some 6.81 billion US dollars, which is a 5% sales decrease Year-on-Year. As far as the operating profit of around 533 million US dollars is concerned, it marks a 3.6% decrease Year-on-Year. The growth is slowing down a bit which is a result of the lowered average handset selling price and the European economy's slowdown.

LG announces second quarter 2010 financial results

Image
LG released their quarterly results for the three months ending in June and they're doing well overall - except the mobile department. R&D investments and expanding into emerging markets costs ate into the profit from the mobile phones, which were actually more than the same period of last year. The net results for LG are 14.4 trillion Korean won in sales (12.4 billion US dollars) and operating profit of 126 billion KRW (108 million USD). Net profit declined 33% in won and 26% in USD compared to the same quarter of last year.

Nokia 5250 appears in public, stays mum on specs

Image
A slip by the Ovi-supporting team today revealed a new touch-driven Nokia handset that is in the works. Nokia 5250 appeared on the company's application store website, flaunting a fresh new design, but unfortunately the handset is running on the good old Symbian S60 5th edition OS. Those of you hoping for an Symbian^3 device in the low-end segment are sadly out of luck.

Nokia's 5800 Navigation Edition builds on the success of the 5800 XpressMusic phone, utilizing the brilliant 3.2-inch touchscreen as a navigation platform. Preloaded with complete maps of the U.S. and Nokia's Ovi Maps software, the 5800 offers premium mapping features such as 3D landmarks, terrain maps, weather service, traffic warnings and more. Included is a lifetime subscription for both walking and driving directions, along with all the necessary accessories--charger, holder, suction mount--for vehicle use. On top of navigation, you'll get all the connectivity and multimedia features that have made the 5800 a best-seller.
Review : This phone is one of the best By V. Phan "yimnvs" (Bay Area) I've been using this phone for four days and those four days have been very blissful for me.
I came from a Samsung Star touch screen phone and this Nokia 5800 Nav. edition blew it away. The Samsung star was good but it lacks wifi and GPS.
